Concealed Carry
SB 306……On May 17, 2010, Governor Mark Parkinson signed Senate Bill 306 putting in place the final piece needed for this encompassing Legislation to become law. While the bill contains many changes to the Personal and Family Protection Act, it is important to note that the changes do not take effect until July 1, 2010.
In the meantime, the Concealed Carry Licensing Unit will be updating information on the Attorney General’s website to reflect the changes brought about by SB 306. The updated postings will be highlighted so that they are easy to locate.

Effective July 1, 2010 all applicants for a concealed carry handgun license will be required to fill out the new application form . Fees have been reduced to $100.00 payable to the Attorney General and $32.50 payable to the County Sheriff. While the printed application form distributed to the Sheriffs did not list personal checks, please note that PERSONAL CHECKS ARE NOW ACCEPTED along with money orders and cashier’s checks.
In 2006 the Kansas Legislature passed the Personal and Family Protection Act. Since July of 2006, over 29,000 Kansans have applied for concealed carry licenses. The first licenses were issued on January 3, 2007.
