Tobacco Enforcement Unit

In July 2008, Attorney General Steve Six created the Tobacco Enforcement Unit (TEU) to enforce the terms of the Master Settlement Agreement (MSA), pursue violations of Kansas' tobacco statutes and assist in the prevention of sales of tobacco to minors.

Creation of the TEU demonstrates Six's commitment and proactive approach to enforcing the laws governing the sale and regulation of tobacco. Whether it is protecting the health of Kansas youth or reducing the number of cigarette-related fire deaths in Kansas, the TEU serves the interests of Kansans.

Tobacco Enforcement Unit Mission Statement

The Office of the Kansas Attorney General Tobacco Enforcement Unit ("TEU") was created on July 22, 2008, by Attorney General Steve Six.  The TEU's primary mission is to enforce the terms of the Master Settlement Agreement ("MSA") within Kansas. The TEU utilizes regulation, litigation, legislation, and relationship building to enforce these terms and assist in protecting Kansas' annual MSA payout. Additionally, when not dealing with MSA issues, the TEU addresses other tobacco related issues, such as underage sales prevention and enforcement, and consumer claims.
