Helpful tips for filing a consumer complaint:
- If your complaint involves a contract or written agreement, order blanks, warranties, credit card receipts, advertisements, cancelled checks, correspondence or other related documents, you must submit your complaint through the mail and provide copies, not originals, of all relevant documents along with your complaint form.
- A consumer transaction (such as a purchase) must have occurred before our office can investigate a complaint.
- If you have documents to support your claim it is important that you send copies of them to us. Please do not send original documents.
- Our office will contact you by mail as your complaint progresses through the process. Please allow adequate time for our office to notify you.
- The Attorney General cannot act as your private attorney for consumer claims. The attorney general's office files lawsuits and on behalf of the State of Kansas and cannot represent individual consumers or file a lawsuit whose only purpose is to recover money or property for an individual.
