Amended Charges Filed in Chautauqua County

On July 12, 2007, the Chautauqua County Attorney, Kimberly King, requested the assistance of the Kansas Attorney General’s Office on a case involving the abduction of a 14 year-old female. The Attorney General will now be handling the case. All media inquiries should be directed to the Attorney General’s Office.

The County Attorney filed charges on July 10, 2007, against Aaron Terning and Stephen Greger. The Attorney General's Office amended the charges on Wednesday, July 18, 2007.

Greger is charged with one count Aggravated Kidnapping, a severity Level 1 Person Felony, two counts Rape, a severity Level 1 Person Felony, and two count Aggravated Criminal Sodomy, a severity Level 1 Person Felony.

Terning is charged with one county Aggravated Kidnapping, a severity Level 1 Person Felony and one count Rape, a severity Level 1 Person Felony.

Terning and Greger appeared in court in Sedan on Wednesday, July 18, 2007. The judge issued a gag order in the case, therefore, no additional details will be released.

The Preliminary Hearing has been set for August 27 and 28. They are currently each being held on $1 million bond.

These charges are merely allegations and Terning and Greger will be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
