Update on Cowley County investigation

Jan. 12, 2007 -- On January 9, 2007 , the Arkansas City Police Department, with the help of trackers from the Arkansas City and Burden Fire Department, located a human female body in rural southeast Cowley County. Yesterday, the autopsy on that body was completed. The autopsy has been sealed by the court.

“While we believe that it is Jodi Sanderholm, there has not been a scientific positive identification of the body that was found,” said Attorney General Paul Morrison.

DNA has been sent to the Topeka KBI lab for positive identification. The cause of death has not been released.

“This is a tragedy and my office will assist local law enforcement to achieve justice for Jodi,” said Morrison.

Currently, local law enforcement with assistance from the KBI and the Attorney General's Office are building a case against a known suspect that is being held on unrelated charges.

Charges may be filed as early as next week.
