CVAF - Crime Victims Assistance Fund

Purpose: To provide assistance to crime victims and speed the recovery from financial loss, physical suffering and emotional trauma of victimization, and to assure proper and sensitive treatment of crime victims in the criminal justice process. Grant applicants should include an analysis of the community's crime victim needs and problems; the targeting of existing and planned activities and services to respond to the local situation; and the formulation of agreements for cooperation between criminal justice system agencies and public and private crime victim service providers.

Eligible Applicants: Funds are available to units of state or local government and private not-for-profit organizations. A 25% local match is required.

Funding Source: 1.45% of fines, penalties and forfeitures paid to state district courts fund this account of the Crime Victims' Assistance Fund.
