Florence man bound over on multiple rape, sodomy charges

March 6, 2008 -- Attorney General Steve Six announced today that Jonathon D. Shultz, 34, of Florence, was bound over yesterday by a Marion County District Court Judge on charges of rape, aggravated sodomy, aggravated indecent liberties with a child, and contributing to a child’s misconduct.

Shultz was originally charged with six counts rape, 8 counts aggravated sodomy, 6 counts indecent liberties with a child and 2 counts contributing to a child’s misconduct. He was bound over on all counts.

Rape, aggravated sodomy and indecent liberties with a child are all off-grid person felonies pursuant to Jessica's Law. And contributing to a child’s misconduct of deprivation is a severity level 7 person felony. Jessica’s Law mandates a sentence of 25 years for the first sex offense.

The Attorney General’s Office is prosecuting the case.

These are only allegations and Shultz will be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
