August 15, 2007 -- Attorney General Paul Morrison and Coffey County Attorney Doug Witteman announced today that First Degree Murder and Aggravated Robbery charges were filed in Coffey County against Russell Allen Dempsay.
The defendant has not yet been apprehended by law enforcement. Morrison, Witteman and local law enforcement request assistance from Kansans in locating this potentially dangerous suspect.
“We ask that anyone who sees Russell Allen Dempsay call the police immediately,” Morrison said. “Kansans should not approach him or attempt to interact with him. They should just call law enforcement right away.”
Dempsay is a 25 year-old white male. He is six feet two inches tall, weighs one hundred seventy five pounds and has blonde hair and blue eyes.
Dempsay was charged with First Degree Felony Murder and Aggravated Robbery for a crime that occurred on July 7, 2007. The state alleges that Dempsay killed Richard Duane Freeman II while committing aggravated robbery.
These charges are merely allegations and Dempsay is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
