Morrison appointed to Governor's Homeland Security Council

July 13, 2007 -- Governor Kathleen Sebelius today announced the appointment of Attorney General Paul Morrison to the Governor’s Homeland Security Council.

The Governor's Homeland Security Council focuses on a comprehensive review of what homeland security initiatives have already been implemented along with a review of any Federal funds that have been appropriated to state agencies or for use by local units of government.

“I look forward to serving the state of Kansas on this important council,” Morrison said. “My office has already begun implementing new programs to increase the coordination between law enforcement and local entities in the case of health related terror threats and other homeland security concerns.”

This council includes one representative from the Governor's Office, the Budget Office, the Adjutant General's Office, Kansas Department of Health and Environment, the Kansas Highway Patrol, the State Fire Marshall, the International Association of Firefighters, the Emergency Medical Services Board, the Animal Health Department, Kansas Department of Transportation, the League of Municipalities, and the Association of Counties.
