The Attorney General’s Office provides legal services to state agencies and boards, promotes open and accountable government, issues Attorney General’s Opinions, protects consumers from fraud, assists the victims of crime and defends the state in civil proceedings.
Each of the divisions within the office performs an invaluable service to the citizens of our state.
- Criminal Justice
Includes the Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation Unit, Crime Victims Services, State Child Death Review Board, Medicaid Fraud and Abuse and D.A.R.E. - Civil Litigation
Handles cases on behalf of the State of Kansas, advises state agencies in an effort to avoid costly litigation whenever possible and negotiates settlements under the Kansas Tort Claims Act - Consumer Protection
Investigates scams, mediates and prosecutes violations of consumer protection acts and provides helpful information to consumers on a variety of topics - Concealed Carry
Information to help Kansans better follow the concealed carry law - K.B.I.
Conducts investigations at the request of local law enforcement agencies and at the direction of the Attorney General - Legal Opinions and Government Counsel
Researches and prepares legal opinions for certain public officials that may resolve legal disputes thereby avoiding litigation. Provides legal advice to professional licensing boards and other governmental agencies - Kansas Solicitor General Unit
This unit was established in May, 2007 to improve, expand and coordinate Kansas' appellate practices - Medicaid Fraud Unit
This Division investigates and prosecutes health care providers who defraud the Medicaid program and Complaints of patient financial or physical abuse and neglect by Medicaid providers.
