April 6, 2007 -- Governor Kathleen Sebelius and Attorney General Paul Morrison are hosting the 10th Annual Crime Victims’ Rights Conference April 11-12, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel & Convention Center in Wichita.
The conference provides crime victims, survivors and those who serve them training and networking opportunities to ensure every crime victim is provided quality services.
“The theme for this year’s conference, ‘Victims’ Rights: Every Victim. Every Time.’ describes the measures taken in Kansas to guarantee every crime victim has a voice within the criminal justice system,” Governor Sebelius said. “That voice is necessary as we seek justice for all those who have been victimized.”
“Kansas has made great strides in assisting crime victims and ensuring their constitutional and statutory rights,” Attorney General Morrison said. “However, we still have much to do to make certain these rights are provided to every crime victim, no matter the crime.”
This year’s conference offers 32 workshops and six keynote presentations. The keynote speakers are:
• Julie Pape, Director of Programs, National Children’s Alliance, Washington, D.C.
• Dr. David Adams, Co-Founder and Co-Director of Emerge, Cambridge, Massachusetts
• Dr. Scott Decker, Professor & Director of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Arizona State University, Phoenix, Arizona
